2018 Board of Director Elections

 

 

To all BTWHOA members,

The Board of Directors of BTWHOA issued a Call for Nominations for the January 2018 Officer and Board elections. Nominations were due no later than November 27, 2017.  We received nominations for 4 positions.  The Board is still looking for members that are willing to serve as Treasurer.  Additionally, there is still two Director at Large positions that we received no nominations.  If interested in serving on the 2018 Board of Directors,  please complete a candidate profile form and email to secretary@btwdallas.org.   A link to the Candidate Profile Form is located on the bottom of this page.

In order for the BTWHOA to maintain its mission and enhance our community, it is important for all members to actively participate. One of the important and meaningful ways a member can participate in this effort is to serve on the HOA Board of Directors.

The Bent Tree West Homeowner’s Association (BTWHOA) will hold its election of the Board of Directors during the Annual Meeting on January 22, 2018.

A Nominating Committee was formed per the BTWHOA By-Laws to solicit and gather nominations from BTWHOA members who wish to serve as an Officer or a Director At-Large on the Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee would like to encourage all HOA members to consider becoming an elected official.

 

If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors, please formally indicate your interest by completing the BTWHOA Board of Director Candidate Profile form (link below). Please return it to the Nominating Committee by November 15, 2017 via either:

  • Mailing it to BTWHOA, PO Box 701111, Dallas, TX 75370-1111, or,
  • Electronically, by scanning the form and emailing it to secretary@btwdallas.org, again by November 15, 2017.

 

The Minimum Requirements to serve on the Board of Directors are:

  • Must be a paid Member in good standing of the Bent Tree West HOA
  • Associate Members are ineligible to serve on the Board of Directors
  • Be able to commit the time needed to fulfill the duties of the office

The following Board of Director positions will be considered and voted upon during the Annual Meeting. Interested candidates are encouraged to review the BTWHOA Bylaws for more information regarding each Board of Director position. The full Bylaws are posted on the BTWHOA website.

 

Board of Director Roles

 

 In general, it is the duty of the Board of Directors:

  1. to formulate and direct the policies and activities of the Association in furtherance of the purposes and powers in the Association;
  2. to keep all books and records of the Association in accordance with good accounting procedures;
  3. to supervise all officers, agents and employees of the Association, and to see that their duties are properly performed;
  4. to send written notice of any initiation fee and the annual and any special dues to every Lot owner;
  5. to prepare a proposed annual budget to be submitted to the Members at the annual meeting;
  6. to perform any and all other duties and exercise any and all other powers not delegated to the Members or officers of the Association.
 

President

The president shall be the chief executive officer of the Association, shall preside at all meetings of the Members and the Board of Directors, shall have general and active management of business of the Association, and shall see that all orders and resolutions of the Board of Directors are carried into effect. He or she shall designate any special committees of the Association and appoint their Members.

 

Vice President

The vice president shall, in the absence or disability of the president, perform the duties and exercise the powers of the president. They shall perform such other duties and have such other powers, as the Board of Directors shall prescribe.

 

Secretary

The secretary shall attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and all meetings of the Members and record all the proceedings of the meetings of the Board of Directors and of the Members and shall perform like duties for the standing committees when required by these Bylaws or upon request of the Committee. He or she shall give, or cause to be given, notice of all meetings of the Members and special meetings of the Board of Directors.

 

Treasurer

The treasurer shall have the custody of the corporate funds and shall keep full and accurate accounts of receipts and disbursements in the Association books and shall deposit all moneys in the name and to the credit of the Association. The treasurer, together with the president, shall disburse the funds of the Association as may be authorized by the Board of Directors, taking proper vouchers for such disbursements, and shall render to the president and the Board of Directors at its regular meetings or when the Board of Directors so requires an account of all his or her transactions as treasurer and of the financial condition of the Association. The treasurer shall prepare (i) an annual budget, and (ii) a statement of income and expenditures, to be presented to the Members at each regular annual meeting.

 

Director(s) at Large

Perform duties as assigned by the President and other members of the Board. Directors at Large have Board of Director voting rights and normally oversee specific projects or priorities of the association.

 

 All Board of Director members are elected to serve one (1) year terms.
